Legend of Korra (among other things)

Okay, so I really ought to be packing for my upcoming trips and tomorrow's Dance Rehearsal.....but I want to type out my thoughts. :)

First of all, yesterday I met Tara in Disney and OH MY GOODNESS BEST DAY EVER!  :D  It was perfect.  I /think/ she doesn't mind me posting pictures, so I'll post two of us.  ;)  We got to see Avengers together!!!! THAT was amazing.  We'd literally been dreaming of doing that since finding out the release date for the film.  :)

Alright.  Now for the title of this post.......Legend of Korra.

Now I knew this show existed.  My tumblr dashboard was constantly full of Korra spam and I had no clue what it was.  Eventually I narrowed it down to it being about some people named Korra, Mako, Bolin, Tenzin and the evil guy Amon.  I also found out that Pabu was some kind of ferret mixed with a red panda and was super cute.
And a lot of people ship Mako and Korra.
That was where my knowledge ended.

This morning I was babysitting my sister while my parents ran some errands.  We finished our chores and we decided to watch a bit of TV.  After seeing some rude homeschool-bashing humor on Disney Channel (I ranted about that to poor Glo-Girl for about ten minutes....XD) we flipped to Nickelodon.  The new Legend of Korra episode started, so I decided to watch since I knew how much the internet and several of my friends liked it.  :D

I WAS SO SURPRISED.  It was fantastic.  :D  I loved the latest episode, and then (while simultaneously doing math homework (which I finished)), I watched all of the released episodes.  :D  It's so good!!!! I get the plot, even without watching the first Avatar series.  This one is great.  :D

So overall, here's the plot.  There are these people who can control the elements.  They're called the "benders".  The people who can't control the elements are called "nonbenders".  The Benders are often trained to use their powers.  Others aren't.  Korra is a young girl who discovers she can control many powers.  She can use all the elements, making her the Avatar.  :D

The last Avatar was Aang, who ended the Hundred Years War, and brought peace to the world.  He also created Republic City, a capitol for all the people to live together in peace.  Well, everyone can guess how that ends.....politics falls apart and the city is kinda hanging on a thread.

Tenzin, who is the son of Katara and Aang (heroes from the last series) is the airbending master, and takes on Korra as his apprentice.  Korra can easily control Earth, Water, and Fire bending powers, but Air Bending is much harder.  She learns to use her gifts and new ones along the way.

Korra meets Mako and Bolin, who are "pro-benders" (people who use their bending powers for sport) and they become friends.  She watches their pro-bending tournaments, and then ends up joining their team.  They become better friends, but her being the only girl with two brothers ends up to some awkwardness around episode 4 and 5 (especially episode 5 gahhhh).

Now here's where it gets REALLY interesting.  :D  Amon is the guy who wants to get rid of ALL the Benders, and create "equality" for all.  He leads the group of people called the "Equalists".
I can think of SO MANY ways of how Amon and his band of useful idiots (the equalists) really compare to today and today's political system.  Let's make everyone equal and give everyone the same opportunities because it's only fair.  No one can be gifted or blessed because not EVERYONE can be, and it's just not fair to all the un-gifted people!!  It's offensive and oppressive!!  (I hope you're catching my sarcasm about now....)

If there's anything I can't stand, it's "social justice".  Guess what?  Life's not fair.  A lot of people have to learn to deal with that.  You can't run to the government or anyone to fix your problems.  Only God has the power to fix you, and you need to let him first.  Putting everyone on a generalized level is a way to gain control.  Legend of Korra proved that .  When you have enough stupid people willing to fight for your cause and support you, you can take over anything.

Those are my two cents on that whole deal.....now I'll talk a bit more about fun stuff.

My favorite characters are Korra and Bolin.  Bolin reminds me of Wes Janson, with how funny he is and how immature at times.  ;)  He's really adorable, and can be tough and protective when he needs to be.  Totally Wes Janson.  ;D

Korra is just too awesome for words.  She kicks butt, and she isn't afraid to really show the bad guy's who's boss.  ;)  Her voice is just beautiful too.  And she's a great friend! :D

Also there's Pabu.

So overall, I'll be tuning in every Saturday morning now.  Or at least watching online.  I'm interested to see where the whole Equalist thing gets everyone. XD  I have more political speculations, but to avoid ticking anyone off, I'm going to click publish and start my packing.

P.S.S. In other news, I am listening to the Avengers Score Soundtrack and it is beyond beautiful.  I want to see the movie for the 5th time sometime soon. :D

I'm Preparing...

For the best two weeks of my life thus far. ;)  Though I have to say, 2012 has been treating me pretty darn amazing, I'm looking forward to the next two weeks SO MUCH.  This week is included btw.

What's going on you might ask?

Well, starting on Thursday, my life gets hectic, crazy, awesome, and FUN. :)
Thursday is dance day.  Our last day of PE was last week (praise the Lord) and this dance class will be the LAST ONE before the Dress Rehearsal (which is just as important as the real Recital).  I'm working this recital, as well as dancing.  I have a total of 12 dances to remember, as well as timing, the show rundown, and cues.  I'm actually getting to be the personal assistant to a little girl who has like eight numbers.  FUN! ;)

Thursday night I have a hair appointment......which is a big deal since my hair is getting so long and heavy I am desperate to cut it.  I have a few styles in mind....would you, dearest friends, care to help me choose?

I'm leaning toward Option Three, since A. I Love Peggy Carter, and B. My hair is really curly and would probably end up looking like that. :)  I like the length.

Anyway, all that is trivial stuff.  The important stuff happens on Friday!!!! One of my BEST FRIENDS in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD, the ever lovely JediKnightGirl/Tara, is on a trip to Walt Disney World this week.  My amazing Daddy is taking me to go meet her for the day (what's a three and a half hour drive for friends?!?) and we'll spend the day together, fangirling over Avengers (which I'll get to later in this post) and Star Wars and all our other favorite things.  I cannot WAIT to meet her.  She is so amazing. <3 I love you Tar-Tar, when you eventually see this!! ;)

After Friday, which is sure to be one of the best days everrrrrr, I have to pack and prepare all day on Saturday, whilst going through post-friend-meeting depression, and then Sunday I have the dance rehearsal.

Monday is my sister's piano recital, math class, and that's all, since Orchestra ended yesterday. *sob*
Tuesday will continue with packing, since on Wednesday.....

My family will be going back to Orlando for the annual FPEA Homeschool convention (which I look forward to every year *eeeee*) and we'll probably go to Downtown Disney on Wednesday. :D  Thursday will be fun as well, since I'll be going to the convention, a homeschool party thingy, and meeting our school supervisor lady for lunch.  :)

FRIDAY WILL BE AMAZING.  :D  Savanna and her family do all the Star Wars Weekends, and as one of my best friends everrrrr, she and I naturally wanted to go together.  Her mom and my mom have been planning for a while now apparently (we only found out a week ago) that we WILL be going to weekends together!!!!! FRIDAY MAY 25th I will be at Star Wars Weekends!!!!!! :)  BETTER YET, another one of my best friends, Autumn, will be at Weekends that day too!!!!!
So essentially I get to spend time in Disney World, during Star Wars Weekends, meeting characters and actors and seeing shows and riding rides, while being with my sister and two of my best friends.
To say I might explode with excitement is an understatement. :)

The homeschool convention is sure to be  incredible fun.....thinking back, I had a great time last year, and I can't wait for it again!!!  Last year I brought a little Anakin Skywalker action figure with me to the convention and SWW....this year I'm debating between my Hobbie Klivian action figure, or Captain America.  :P  Any help there guys? ;)

Alright, alright.  So this post was pretty self centered.  Good news!  I have two things that will leave promise for better, NOT selfish posts. ;)  The first is a post all about The Avengers and a SPOILER FREE review of the movie that I have seen three times already.  :)
The second thing is that I have a few more "inspirational" posts in my head.  As soon as I get a chance to sit down and write them out, they'll be published.  I hope to get at least one more post in before my crazy week starts!! ;)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

(Sorry for my lack of posts....that will change soon! I promise!! I've got a lot to post about!)

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there in the blogosphere!!!!! Especially my mom, my auntie, and the other mom-bloggers I follow!!! :D My mom is everything to me. I realized in a big way this week how hard she works for me and my education, and it hit me hard. As in, I was practically crying to her to do school with me because I was so confused and lost. She does it all!!! My mom cleans, teaches, takes us places, prepares school, cares for us, and everything else imaginable (except cook). :)

I wrote a poem for my mom for mother's day, because I A. I am broke, and B. I honestly think God laid it on my heart to write for her. It's a sort of school 'final'. It sums up all the major things we learned about in school this year, and what I got out of it. Enjoy. ;)


THE JOURNEY
 Sailing across the Seven Seas,
 Off we go, wanderers three.
Sailing, sailing, back in time,
 Until we reach the light’s first shine.
 The beginning begun, the tale’s not done;
God created the Heavens and the Earth,
And then followed plants, creatures and human’s birth.
To sin, the human race they fell,
 From a bite into an apple to Cain and Abel.

Finally, through Ezra, they reached their homes,

While all that was happening, so was Ancient Greece!
The Iliad, the Odyssey, and myths galore,
The Greeks taught us about math, science, writing and more.
The Mycenaeans and Minoans; important players in this game,
As well as the Trojans and their fall into fame.
 Persia and their fighting bring us to our final stop,
We’re staying in Athens, where the fighting is top.
 Neighboring Sparta is a violent, brutal place,
War is all their bred for, there is no saving grace.
Our lessons, they continue,
A never ending way,
To not only see the world, But let it into your heart to stay.
