The Soundtrack of my Life

Music is the soundtrack of our lives.  It says things about us.  It tells about who we are.  What our interests are, what we love, what makes us happy, excited, and fills us with joy.

Music can tell a story....or bring you back to a certain time and place.  I'm going to share a few songs that once I hear them, take me to different times and places.  ;)

The first song is very significant.  As soon as this song comes on my iPod or the radio or whatever, I am automatically in my grandparent's vacation home, a few summers back, playing Moxie Girlz with my cousin and sister.  We wrote journals for our dolls, made outfits, books, and accessories.  :)  The Owl City soundtrack "Ocean Eyes" was our game soundtrack that year.

Now this song brings me back to several summers ago....when we had our American Girl doll epics.  That was fantastic, and this CD was played on repeat almost the entire time.  ;)

This song was our theme song for a trip we took last year, to Sanibel Island.  GOODNESS I want to go back so bad it HURTS.  I can't even listen to the whole song. XD

(also this video is the most epic thing I have ever seen....especially since my latest obsession is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.)  :D

Hah, this one is funny.  Every time I hear this song I think of Amaranthine, and her nagging at me to finish up the Lakehouse Forum newsletter while I was on vacation.  I listened to this song on repeat the entire time finishing that darn thing (because she sent me the link!).  XDD

This song is not only adorable and funny, it brings back memories of how Ember and I started the idea to create a Movie Review blog, which will be starting up soon, once she goes on Spring Break.  ;)  We were the oldest (not adults) people in the theater to see Winnie the Pooh, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  xD

This next song actually brings back bad memories....XD  When i was in the 5th grade, my class took a field trip to this REALLY REALLY REALLY epic place called "Pathfinders".  It was AMAZING.  I'll never forget it.  One thing I definitely won't forget is how horribly carsick I got on the way there.  XDD  I was miserable.  Luckily, my dad was one of the parent chaperons, and I had a few nice friends who stuck with me when I was so sick, but I remember vividly being really really ill.  And then the bus played a scary movie (for all the boys, LOL) and when I was only 11 or 12 (however old I was...I don't really remember) and with my really wimpy scare-factor, this freaked me out.  My dad had given me my iPod to listen to while I tried not to be sick again and not watch the scary movie that was going to make me cry.  This was that song, and I really still can't listen to it without getting that cringing "I-don't-like-this-feeling" feeling in the pit of my stomach. XD

Happier song/memory now....xD This reminds me of playing volleyball with my sister and cousin at the vacation house.  We'd listen to one of our iPods (my cousin's at the time if I am correct) and we'd just sing the songs over and over and over.  This was our favorite that day. :)

Last one for this post......this song makes me think about our trip to Sarasota, where I got to meet the amazing Timothy Zahn!!! :D  We drove around going to all the tourist-y spots and stuff while there, and I listened to this song on repeat in the car. ;)

Time For Some Music

I'm in a sing-songy mood right now.....so I'm going to share a few of my favorite songs with you all!!! :D Hope you don't mind! ;)

One of my favorite bands....The Band Perry, is awesome!!!  This was the first song I heard from them, several summers ago!  I love this song so much....I know all the words!!  It's just a cute, feel-good song. ;)

This is my current favorite song (as far as Country Music goes).  Lady Antebellum (my all time favorite band)'s new album Own The Night has me totally hooked.  I got it for Christmas. ;)  This is the single from that album, and I LOOOOOOVE IT.  I just can't stop listening to this song!!!!

Don't you judge me....I know this is a song that was featured on a show on Disney Channel, but i love this song.  Some of the lyrics are wrong, but still, listen to the song itself.  It's EPIC. :D

My favorite song off of the How To Train Your Dragon soundtrack.  That movie has the most BEAUTIFUL music!!! ;D  I'm teaching myself to play this on the viola. ;D

Alright......warning time. This song is called "Party Rock Anthem".  It's my current not-country-or-soundtrack-song.  It is, however, got a few questionable lyrics in there.  If you don't want to see that, don't watch the video or listen too closely to the song.  I still absolutely love this song despite it's few lyric mishaps. xD  It's the ultimate dance song, and party anthem!  ;D

Keith Urban.....mmmhhhmmmm. :D  This is my favorite song by him.  My family and i LOVE it.  :D  It's just so sweet and cute and awesome!!!  I never fail to grin whenever this song plays. ;)

Meet the Robinsons....my favorite Disney Movie. :D It's the best one....really. ;)  And it's soundtrack is wonderful.  This is my favorite song. :D I sing this ALL DAY LONG.  ;D

We warm up the little girls by doing "adagio" to this song.  Essentially, it's do as I do, and we (the teachers) dance up front and the little girls copy us.  I've got it memorized to this song.  Plus, it's my all time favorite Disney classic song. ;D

My sister's ballet song is to this one this year, and I am JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE THIS SONG.  Seriously, I've liked/loved it for a long time.  I'm gonna learn my sister's dance just so I can enjoy it.  XD

Ooohh....as much as I love the Wicked soundtrack, this might be my favorite song on their.  I didn't listen to it for a while, just the happy, everyone-knows-those-songs, songs....but once I heard it once, I needed to listen to it incessantly until I knew all the words. ;)  It ties with No Good Deed as my favorite. ;D

Thor has an incredible soundtrack.  The music often moves me to tears.  :')

I had to feature Lemonade Mouth.......I am a sucker for a good Disney Channel Original Movie, and this one hit it outta the park.  ;)  That's rare for me to say I actually liked one of the Disney movies, they all seem to be rather shallow, plot non-existent, and stupid.  ;P I love Lemonade Mouth though, and the songs are just great. ;) Tar-Tar, it's our song! :D

My second favorite song on the Thor soundtrack.  Flawless. ;D

IRON. MAN.  I love this song!!!!!! ;D

Owl City has been an obsession of mine for like, forever.  ;)  This song brings back so many good memories!!! ;D  *happy sigh*

I'm not sure on all of the lyrics in this song, just a warning....but it's my song for dance recital this year. :D

My sister's tap song this year.  I know the dance already, and I practice it with her often. ;D

XDD

Captain America: A Movie Review

Okay....I've gotten into the Captain America craze......and I see why the rest of the internet/world has gotten into it!!!!!!
I LOVE this movie.  It's probably my second favorite movie of all time now....bumping Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom to third favorite! O.O

Captain America was a movie I had been really psyched to see thanks to my lovely friends on both Blogger and The Lakehouse Forum. (and the real world too) ;)  *cough Tara-Lareen-Jamie-Maryanna cough*

This movie more than exceeded my expectations.  I knew it would be cool....I mean, it's a Marvel movie!  ;D And I've heard the most incredible reviews....so I figured it would be great.
But this movie was amazing.  It brought me to tears (hysterical tears to be exact) and I have watched it 8 times since first seeing it on the day after Christmas, and I still have not gotten the least bit bored with it.  ;)
Here's a mini review, followed by my deeper thoughts.

Captain America:

Stars: 10/10

Liked: Um...EVERYTHING?  The plot, the characters, the villains, the story, the script, the flow, the music, the setting, the weapons, the sidekicks, Steve Rogers?

Disliked:  The death of a certain character.  The ending.  XD

Favorite Scene: After the procedure.  Bucky Rescue.  Ending.  Stark/Shield scene.  Steve and Peggy in car.  Steve and Peggy in bar.  Col. Phillips and Dr. Zola.  The Epic Montage.

Favorite Song:

Overall Thoughts:  There is so much I want to say about this movie!!!!!!! XD  It was practically perfect in every way!  It had amazing action, wonderful characters, interesting (and heartbreaking) plot lines, amazing soundtrack, perfect dialogue, and just.......AHHH SO PERFECT!!!!!!
I love the character of Steve Rogers.  He is humble, he is valiant, he is brave, and he has a heart.  In Steve's own words, he's just a kid from Brooklyn.  He's no one special, he was not born a hero, he proved himself to be one.
I love Steve.  So much.  XD  He's just so perfect!

And he draws!  *swoons*

Bucky Barnes, Steve's best friend, is also incredible.  He goes from being Steve's protector and sticking up for him, to being his partner in his own battalion, the Howling Commandos.  Bucky is really sweet, funny and loveable. <3  I wish I saw a LOT more of him in the movie!!!!!!!  ;)

Peggy Carter....ahh.  Peggy is the best female lead character role I have seen in a movie since Star Wars: A New Hope with Princess Leia.  ;)  She's strong, she's tough, she's EPIC!  And she's got a British accent, what more could anyone want?  She and Steve are PERFECT for each other.  ;)

Red Skull.  This is the baddest bad guy I have seen in a while!  He's got a freaky back story, and such a controlling and scary character, it's intriguing!  :D  

The other characters were also amazing, such as Col. Phillips, Dr. Zola (lol) and a bunch of others!!!  The Howling Commandos are AMAZING.  I love them.  XD

I recommend this movie to EVERYONE.  There is only a slight warning for language....but other than that, it's an INCREDIBLE movie.  The ending made me cry, both with joy and with terrible sorrow.  XD  I love this movie more than i can say....and I am waiting for my Steve Rogers to come and sweep me off my feet!  ;)

Back Into The Swing Of Things...

Today was the first day of dance.  Oh. My. Word.  xD

It is going to be a long (and fun) year.  :P  I am helping in TWO classes this year, and taking only one.  xD
I'm helping the main teacher/owner of the studio(s).  I've known her for years, and my family is good friends with her, so I'm glad to help out, and she's super nice.  The little girls are awesome.  I know four of them already, and I can tell that we will have a lot of crazy fun this year.  XD

Moms stop me in the studio, or parking lot, or restaurant down the street and tell me what a good job I'm doing helping, or saying thank you, or if they had me last year, hugging me and asking me how my summer was.  xD

My Jazz class is really cool.  I am the oldest girl there.  *facepalm*
The teacher is really, really nice, but I can tell that she's tough, and going to push us.  I know a few girls in the class, some as friends, others acquaintances, and others just by name or their face, because they are /not as nice/.  :P

I met a nice girl in the class though, who is around a year younger (but several inches taller...), and she's been dancing as long as I have.  This is her first year back to Jazz after a while too, so we'll catch up together.  Especially if Chibi decides to not come with me.  >.>

Anyway, dance means that we're now getting back into the school year.  O.O
I am SO not ready.  xD  I've been reading science, and practicing my viola (like crazy!) but I'm kinda nervous for this year.  :P  I'm going into high school.....so it's  big deal.  And the program we're using is very involved and very big, and I have a LOT of work to do.  I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with everything (both in 'real life' and the internet.).

Pray for me.....I have an orchestra audition next week, and I'm honestly terrified.  XD  I am getting better at my song, but I still am scared.  I always clam up in front of the judges.  And cameras.  xD

Well folks, sorry for the short post, but I'm going to /try/ and get caught up on Blogger and probably Beautiful People too.  xD  I think I missed last month's.....anyway, that post will probably be up later.  I just had to post about dance, because I was excited/tired.  :D

My Best Friend

This is the start of my series of family posts.  :)  Hence the EPIC POST EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!!!  :D

This post is going to be about my best friend, or rather, my cousin.  :)

Now, my cousin is the best friend I've ever had.  I love her very much, despite all our hundreds of differences, we're closer than anyone else.  ;)
We've got a billion inside jokes, stories and things only we well ever understand.  :)

My cousin is more like my twin sister than my cousin.  We go everywhere possible together, and ever since we were little we've been two peas in a pod.  ;)
My sister is also in our 'pod', but there are some things that are just for me and Chibi to understand.  ;)

When we were little, we'd fight over EVERYTHING.  We still do fight, probably more than average best friends, but we always make up and get over it.  I know that I can trust Chibi more than anyone else I know.  She knows me better than I know myself, and I know her the same.  In fact, I wrote her DeviantART profile.  XD

These few songs either remind me of her, or her of me.  ;)

That song is right now our favorite.  :)  Especially the 'You test my nerves, it makes me stronger, so can you bother me, a little bit longer?" part.  I know all the words.  ;)  Despite the chorus, this is the perfect song for the two of us!  Plus, we sat there and cried/laughed/watched Winnie the Pooh in theaters.  ;)

Again, perfect song for us.  :)  I <3333 this song!!!!!!  :D  :D

Only because this was our tap song, this is also our song.  We randomly break out into tap moves ALL the TIME!  XDDDD

Again, our song.  :)  We sing/dance really badly to it all the time!!!!!!!!  XDDDD  It's hilarious and for fun.  I listened to this song like, ten times today.  :P

We have all kinds of awesome back stories, crazy schemes, plans that never work, ideas and thoughts and tons of other insane things that we always talk about for no reason.  XDDDDD

Chip and Dale/Chipmunks in general have special meaning for us.  XDD  When we were little, we came up with this thing where in a past life, we were Chipmunks, and all these other things.  So, we are chipmunks.  :)  So ha.  It's complicated but special.  We are celebrating our 500 year Chipmunk Best Friend Anniversary this year.  XDDDDDD  LOL!!!

Yeahhh.....this pretty much describes the things we talk about.  XDDDD  We've had entire conversations about 'Sham-pow', the shampoo for Dinosaurs.  XD

This is us.  (I'm the peanut butter btw.)  XD  We 'stick' together through everything, even though we've fought a LOT.  XD

Honestly, until this past summer, Chibi and I were kind of drifting apart.  :P  She goes to a private school, and I am homeschooled.  We both got caught up with homework and school and sports/dance and other things, and essentially, we weren't as close as we used to be.  I was into Star Wars, and she was into different things.  She like lots of magic books, and stuff that was too 'dark/scary' for me.  :P

But then we got close again!  :D  This is what brought us back together.  :)

That's right.  Wicked the Musical.  :)  I heard the music and told Chibi, "YOU'VE GOT TO LISTEN TO THIS!!!!"  We listened together, and soon we were both hooked.  ;)

That's our song from here.  ;)  We love this one, but the next song is our song forever.  ;)

That song will be played at both our weddings.  XDD  We sang it as a duet, and we love this song so much.  It describes us perfectly.  ;)

After discovering Wicked close to the end of the school year, we decided to make this Our Summer.  ;)  This has been by far the best summer yet.  :)

We've done EVERYTHING together!  We've gone on vacation, gone to Disney World, stayed up late, watched movies, eaten ice cream, read books, played games, dressed like twins, eaten pretzels, watched more movies, cleaned bedrooms and done SO MUCH MORE!

I hate introspect.  It makes me all sappy.  XDD  Anyways, I feel like this past summer, I've grown closer to my best friend.  We can finish each other's sentences we're so close.
She's doing an art piece for me of Mara Jade.  ;)  She doesn't mind (as much now) that I like Star Wars.  You see, she's got a fandom now.
Pirates of the Caribbean.  Especially:

That's right.  Captain Jack Sparrow.  She LOVES Captain Jack.  Like me with Luke Skywalker or Anakin Skywalker, only worse.  (if that's humanly possible.)

So she had me watch the Pirates movies with her.  I LOVED THEM!!!!!!  :D  I personally liked Will and Elizabeth (which she knew I would) and she very much was happy I liked them.  :)

One of the best things we did this summer was the Disney Movie Rewards program.  :)  It was awesome.  We collected codes and got free stuff!!!!  I got her a necklace (POTC of course) and she got me an phone cozy that was High School Musical!  :D

When we were in Disney, we did EVERYTHING together!  She had her iPod with her, and she took pictures of us each place we went 'by ourselves'.  :)  We had pictures around the resort and at Hollywood Studios.  :)  We went on rides together, including Space Mountain, Hollywood Studio's Backlot Tour and Winnie the Pooh.  ;)  We sat at 'our' table at our hotel, (we sat there each time we went to that hotel, and now it's marked with our initials. XD)  And we made 'Trash-can Soda' using our new souvenir cups.  ;)
Trashcan Soda is simply a bunch of soda mixed together in one cup creating new and delicious flavors each time.  ;)  We make it every time we go to that hotel, and now every time we go to Disney.  ;)  Yay for Trashcan!

I'm hoping we can go back to the vacation house before summer's over, because we get to share a room and stay up late, and play on the computer(s) and write and read and watch movies and.....just.....be together.  :)

Now that we've gotten older, we tell each other secrets, and talk about 'girl things' and boys and stuff like that.  XD  She's even on my forum, and we were chatting on TLF last night!  :D  I helped her organize/clear out her room, (she's redoing it) and I helped her decide on paint colors.  :)

*sighs*  So now you can see, how close I am to my cousin, and how much we love each other.  ;)

I promise to have more posts soon, the next one will be an interview with my parents!  And then I'll do a post on my sister.  XDD

This post is /obviously/ dedicated to Chibi, the best friend and awesome-est cousin a girl could ever ask for!  *hugs*

WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in LOVE with Wicked the Musical.  :)  This post is dedicated to Qui, because she helped me greatly in getting into Wicked, and understanding it.  ;)

My friend Maryanna went to see Wicked in one of the performing arts centers a while ago, and after hearing how much my Lakehouse friends loved it, I wanted to go too, but by the time I found out it was coming it was too late.  :P  But Maryanna went and had a great time, and she put the soundtrack of the Wicked music on my iPod, because she said I'd LOVE it.  I did LOOOVE it!!!!!!!  :D 
I'm quite jealous of Maryanna because she got to meet the guy who played Fieryo.  :P  Grrrr Maryanna.  xD

Anyways, so about a week ago I listened to the soundtrack for the first official time before bed, and was surprised at how much I liked it.  I fell asleep listening to it, and woke up singing Defying Gravity.  :P  So begins my newest obsession.  XDD

The next morning, I emailed Qui and asked her to explain to me the plot of the musical, because I was very curious.  I already tried looking it up on Wikipedia, but that only made me all the more confused.  :P
So Qui very kindly explained the plot in simple terms, so I could understand it.  :)  Now all the songs make sense!!  :D  I forwarded that email to my cousin Chibi*Chick, and she bought the album of Wicked songs on iTunes, and now she LOVES Wicked just as much as I do!!!!!! 

We've decided that I am Glinda and she is Elphaba.  :P  We are going to sing a duet for Defying Gravity and What is this Feeling.  It's awesome.  And fun!!!!  We're going to put on a show for when our family visits this summer.  It'll be really fun!!!!

Getting Caught Up on the Star Wars Meme

I've gotten behind again.....but this time it's not my fault.  Blogger was down for a while, and I couldn't get on.  XD

Day 11: Favorite Weapon
A lightsaber.  Duh!  XD  I love lightsabers.  My favorite color lightsaber is blue.  Though if I had one, I'd want either a pink one like Pink Five or a teal colored one. ;)  Cool huh? 

Day 12: Favortie Non-Human Species or Race
I dunno.  I like Togrutas, like Ahsoka or Shaak Ti.  I also like the Wookiees and Twi-Leks.  ;)

Day 13: Most Memorable Death
*SOB*  Padme.  Or Anakin/Darth Vader.  MARA JADE!!!!!!!!!!!!  I still can't believe she's dead.  In fact, I refuse to believe it.  Instead I'm going to deny it forever and ever and pretend she lives on in my little EU world.  :P

I'll go ahead and do days 14 and 15 too, because most likely I won't get around to it tomorrow or the next day.  XD

Day 14: Favorite EU Novel
Ooh.  I like a lot of them.  I like the Thrawn Trilogy, and I LOVED the Jedi Academy Series.  That was my first official book series of the EU.  The Jedi Academy Series.  :)  It was great!  My other favorites include The Courtship of Princess Leia, Truce at Bakura, and The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader (I consider it EU). 

Day 15: Favorite Vehicle
X-WING!!!!!!  Or the Millennium Falcon!!!!  :D  I love that bucket of bolts.  ;)  I also very much like the Snow Speeders from ESB.  ;)

Now that that's done, enjoy this song that I'm currently obsessed with.  I taught myself to play it on the violin.  ;)  It's called the Ashokan Farwell.  No, not AHSOKAN, ASHOKAN.  XDD  I did the same thing when I first saw the song.  :P  LOL!  Ugh.  The little video thing isn't working, so here's a link.  :P

News for KOTF (Kindling of the Flame for those of you who don't know.....) I WILL be posting again.  :P  Sorry it took so long....I had to actually finish the report, and then Blogger died, and then the wi-fi was off before I could even do it!  XD  I have two posts written up now, and Jedi~Chick may hack into Abigail's blog a little bit.....LOL!  I'll see how it goes.  ;)  Thanks everyone for your support and follower-ness of my new blog!!!!  :)

Yay!!!  Our dances are almost done!!!  :D  I'm so excited!!  My lyrical has about ten seconds left, and my tap has three counts of eight.  (you do the math).  ;)

I was just informed by my mother that I have another critique due tomorrow.  Current word count on that thing: 0.  I've got a heck of a lot of writing to do!!!!!!  Talk to you at....oh, 3 am??  :P  Yeah.
