No Perfect People Allowed

Perfectionists.  That's the topic for the day, folks.

One of my best friends in the galaxy is a huge perfectionist.  I used to be one too, until I grew out of it....in a way.

Actually...I didn't grow out of being a perfectionist, I just realized that there is no such thing as perfect.  The thing that really got me to believe that was my church.  They have a slogan, and it says "No Perfect People Allowed" (hence the name for this post).  For a long time I strived to be as perfect as physically possible.  I wanted to be perfect for my mom and dad, for my teachers, for my friends and everyone, except myself and God.  I have to admit that when I was younger, I wasn't a strong Christian.  I knew that Jesus loved me, and what Easter Sunday meant, but that personal relationship that I have now was not there.  Now I know that I live for HIM and HIM alone, and that HE is perfect, so I don't have to be.  :)

So this post goes out to all of those who are battling with perfection.  Guess what?  It only exists in ONE person, and it's not you.  It's not me, it's not that girl at school who has perfect hair, perfect makeup, perfect body, it's not the guy at your co-op with the perfect smile, perfect laugh and perfect eyes....
It's Jesus.  Jesus and Jesus alone is the ONLY perfect person to EVER walk the planet.  No one but Him will be perfect, so STOP TRYING.

Now, I must clarify.  I said stop trying....but I mean only to stop trying PERFECT.  Because everyone needs to try their absolute BEST at EVERYTHING they do.  We are to Glorify the Lord through our work, and he deserves nothing but the best!!!  Again, though he wants the best, he wants OUR best, not a generic PERFECT or socially-suggested CORRECT.  God wants our hearts, which are perfect in his eyes.  <3

So to my perfectionist friends, stop focusing on being or writing or making the perfect thing.  Jesus doesn't care if you look perfect, or write perfect stories, or do perfect drawings.  He just wants you to use the gifts He gave you to your full potential.  As long as you do that, you are perfect in his eyes.

Do what you love, and love what you do, and just be yourself.  You don't have anything to prove, except to Jesus Christ, who already knows it all anyway.  ;)

Go out and do your best in EVERYTHING my friends!!!  And remember, no perfect people are allowed. ;)

Hi, I'm Socially Awkward.

*sighs* It's true.  I've been thinking about this a lot lately.  Most homeschoolers are labeled as "unsocialized".  It's true, some of us don't have as many friends (or enemies) as kids who go to public school, but as it's been pointed out by many people, both from the internet, in real life and in my immediate family (thank you Ember), homeschoolers have to actively seek out friendships, so they are naturally less shy than other people.

Ehhh.....I beg to differ.  The "seeking out friendships" part has been getting to me recently.  It's not that I don't like my friends, or don't have any friends...I do!  I have amazing friends!  Both in "real life" and on the internet.  I love my internet friends just as much as I do my "IRL" friends.  I just wish I was a little less weird sometimes.

I mean c'mon.  Look at me.  I'm a total geek who lives on the internet, has multiple relationships with multiple fictional characters, enjoys watching sappy movies as well as movies that would normally be classified as a "boy movie", a writer, a fan of country music, a dancer and I play viola.  How many of those sound normal to you?  (if you're my twin, don't say all of them, you do not count. XD)

Who is going to want to be friends with, talk to, or even acknowledge someone like that?  Someone who is usually too shy to even make eye contact with other people her age, but can talk to adults without a problem, and teach little kids even easier.  Someone who either stays to herself, awkwardly ignoring everyone, or is sitting by herself at the co-op lunch room because her mom was late to pick her up.  Someone like me.

I don't always come off as socially awkward, especially on the internet. In "real life"though.....I just can't handle being with other people my age.  Other teenagers who are either my age, younger than me, or older than me, I don't do well with.  If they're younger, they're usually incredibly immature and hard to keep good conversation with (this isn't judging all younger kids, just some.)  And older kids are usually far too cliquey, not wanting anyone or anything else inside their own private little circle of friends.  It's hard to meet new people if they don't even notice you exist.

Lately, my best friend (Maryanna) has been trying to get me interested in sitting with the other kids from our group at P.E.  This includes a few girls, a ton of guys, and a lot of awkward social tension on my end.  I can't seem to make the connection.  I am so much better off with younger kids, and adults.  My dad says it's normal for me to be awkward with other people my age...because I'm a teenager and at this point in time, everyone is growing and changing and it's not really our faults.  My mother, however, has zero sympathy for me, and accuses me of judging others.  I am judging.  Not mean judging, but you judge all the time.  If the chair is wet, you judge that it's not fit for you to sit in.  If there is no milk in the refrigerator, you judge that someone else drank it before you could.  (stupid analogies, but you get my point.)

I'm not judging cruelly, by looks, or even by the words people speak.  As my mother always says, Actions Speak Louder Than Words.  I will admit to judging by actions.  Is that person good at that sport?  Are they nice to the girls?  Are they nice to their friends?  Do they use bad language?  Are they polite?  Etc, etc, etc.  If the person has poor behavior, than it's my place in my own self to judge what I think about it, and what I should do associating with them.  Are they the kind of person that I should be hanging out with?

Now here is where I get confused.  Maryanna seems to be having trouble with being "invisible".  Especially around guys.  I honestly DO.NOT.CARE. if guys notice I exist.  Remembering my name now and then would be nice (HELLO I AM WEARING A NAMETAG!), but I don't want them to be giving me their undivided attention or anything like that.  When the right guy comes into my life, I'll be ready and waiting.  Until then, I don't mind being slightly invisible.

More than judging others, I judge myself.  I judge what others will look at. What a nerd I am, my clothes, my interests, my taste in music, my taste in movies, everything.
......

I like Star Wars, which is automatically assumed by the majority of the human race to be a nerdy thing to like.  The fact that I live, eat, breath, wear, share, quote, watch, am obsessed with Star Wars doesn't help that.  At all.

I am not even gonna say all the times that I've been mocked by my love of country music.  Apparently that's weird?  Wrong?  I don't see why....

Viola?  What's a viola?  Isn't it just a big violin?  What's the difference?  I'll show you the difference.

I write?  For FUN?  I talk about my writing?  I care more about characters than I do other people?  I am spaced out when playing sports because I'm thinking about my story?  What. A. Freak.

.....

I like Star Wars.  And Avengers.  I understand the comics, and the books, and the movies, and the games.  I can relate to boys and girls of all ages, and I have connected with people unlike any other.  It's an awesome feeling to be so excited by something and then meet someone who likes it just as much as you do.  I can talk to most grown men, having intellectual conversations with them, and even impress them with my knowledge.  I don't let my "geekiness" hold me back from being bold about my fandoms.  I'll wear my Captain America shirt in public, proudly and my Her Universe shirt with even more pride.  I am a fangirl!  Hear me roar!!!

Country music?  I LOVE country music!  I know all the words to most of all the songs!  I can sing Brad Paisley like a pro, and belt out Carrie Underwood extremely off key and no where near her amazing voice, but I do it with joy and with pride.  Luke Bryan, Josh Turner, Brad Paisley, The Band Perry, Rodney Atkins, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum.....these are my artists and bands.  Not Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, these people have good souls, good hearts for God, and they aren't afraid to show it.  :)

What's a Viola?  Only the best instrument ever!  It's unique, it's pitched lower than the violin!  It's deeper, richer and harder to play!  I have to dig into that thing....it's making me stronger.  I'm learning to play like a professional, so that someday, I might be one.  I can play Indiana Jones, Star Wars, ET, Superman and other themes in a heartbeat.  I am learning the classics, Handel, Beethoven, Dvorak, Mozart!  I am a violist, and I'm proud!

I write.  I write for FUN.  I LOVE to write. It is my passion!  I'm not ashamed!!!  It's the most thrilling feeling to get lost in your character's dialogue so much that 1000 words later you can go back and read your work with such excitement at what you've written.  I've written two novels.  TWO.  How many kids my age can say that?  Not many.  I weave tales all the time.  I have thoughts going through my brain too often about how much I love to read, and how i love to write, and how I just want to get back home to my computer so I can finish this chapter or finish this paragraph.  I'll stay up to the early hours of the morning, writing.  People asked at P.E. why I was so tired Thursday morning.  I told them that I was up until 3:30am.  "What?!?" they exclaim, "Doing what?!!" I respond with "Writing." and their confused expression is priceless.  ;)
I'm an author.  I love what I do.  I love to write, and I thank God for that gift every day.  I am proud.

Don't be afraid of being yourself!!!!!  To Thine Own Self Be True.
You are cool.  You are awesome.  You don't need anyone to tell you that but yourself.  God already knows it, so woman (or man) up and tell YOURSELF this!  Who cares what other people think?  I sure don't!!!  I am 100% fine with being a nerd/geek/loser/weirdo/dork.  I am!  I am happy with my "boy movies".  I'm happy with my "lame country-hick music".  I'm happy with my viola, with my dance, with my writing.  With my life.
I am happy.  I am fulfilled.  I am loved.

I don't need to be popular, or cool, or liked by other people my age.  I'm okay with my friends that I have.  With my best friends, Maryanna and my best friend/cousin Ember.  We'll be weird together.  I'm okay with my internet buddies....they understand me, and they care about me!  What else do I need?  A little human interaction here and there would be nice...but I am no where near concerned about being "socialized".  No, I don't like other people my age.  I still feel really weird, and problematic, and awkward, but I know in my heart, and in my soul that I am the Daughter of a King who is greater than ALL of that. He created me, to be me.  I shouldn't let anyone, ANYONE, hold me back from what my God has in store for me.

Han is the Man: A Guest Post By Savanna

Hey everyone!! My name is Savanna, you may know me as Cad Bane's chick from Pandas, Lightsabers and Cameras, oh my!! Jedi~Chick asked me to do a couple guest posts while she's working on her NaNoWriMo novel.

If you are a Lakehouse girl, you'll know that I definitely prefer Han Solo over Luke Skywalker. I've titled myself a "Hangirl" (Han + fangirl). I think that Jedi~Chick posts too much about Luke's awesomeness on here so, I'm going to write about Han Solo in this very epic post. Also, be prepared for tons of Han pictures.

First off, we must address Han's hotness. C'mon people, let's face the fact that Harrison Ford was pretty good looking in his younger years. I'm not going to elaborate on this, you get the point. I also love how his hair is always perfect with his shirt tucked in, while still being a scoundrel. That gun holster is completely rad too. Not to mention, he doesn't look too bad when encased in carbonite either. Han's smirks, sarcasm, and witty comments are all included in "hotness". 

The scene in The Empire Strikes Back is also a fangirl favorite. Plus, you don't even have to be a Hangirl to love it. Yes, you know which scene I'm talking about- "I love you.""I know." Ahhhh!! My heart melts just thinking about it. When you think about it, he instantly wins the battle over Luke in the "romance" category. I mean, at least Han didn't smooch with his own sister. Ewwww!! In my book, Han and Leia are officially the cutest couple ever.

Secondly, he's captain of the Millennium Falcon. Excuse me? Never heard of her?! Shut up. It made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. 

Thirdly, let's address his best friends- Chewbacca and Lando. Everyone can admit that Chewie is overly adorable, even though we can't understand a word he says. His weird roaring noises and walking carpet appearance are the epitome of cuteness. Then there's Lando...pretty much the coolest guy in the galaxy. He's got a rad mustache, nice grin, and a cape!! Anyone with a cape is automatically freaking awesome (I mean, just look at Darth Vader). Both Chewie and Lando compliment Han's perfectness and round him off as a pretty cool guy. 

In conclusion, Luke is pretty much a whiny/wimpy farmboy with a stupid haircut and hot sister. He's not terrible but definitely doesn't match up to the one and only, Han Solo. 

**Savanna, you Luke HATER, you are dead to me.  JK, love you and thanks for doing this post (despite that previous comment)**

Oh, and I don't care what the special edition says...Han shot first. Don't you ever forget that.

My best friends are my cousin Chibi, and my homeschool friend Maryanna.  ;)  I love both of them so much.  We can talk about anything, and then suddenly be bored together for hours on end.  XD  They're awesome.  Maryanna's sister is another great friend, along with Annabeth (not her real name) and Luke (not his real name xD)  Also good friends.  ;)
My internet friends......well that's another story.  ;)

Leia is one of my absolute BEST internet friends.  :)  I love her SO much.  We rant and talk about everything and anything.  :)  She is how I discovered my most recent obsession....Pride and Prejudice.  :)

Amaranthine is another one of my best Blogger friends.  I don't know what I'd do without her.  :)  She's hilarious, awesome and very fun.  *hugs*

Endor is so amazingly awesome.  We talk constantly.  I love her like a sister.  ;)  She is older than me, but we still get along PERFECTLY.  I can't wait until we meet someday Endor!  xD

Satine and I are a lot alike, and a lot different.  She is incredibly fun though, and we talk about all sorts of things on TLF.  ;)  (also, i did her blog design!)

JediKnightGrl is probably one of my best internet friends.  :)  She is super sweet, HILARIOUS (as last night when we were both on TLF at 2am proved), and she knows me better than I know myself.  XD  Love you girl!!!  :)

Meme Days 3, 4, and 5

I'm going to do Saturday's and Sunday's Meme's because I'm going to be CRAZY BUSY this weekend.  Tomorrow I've got a viola lesson, and Sunday is the dance dress rehearsal.

Day 3:  Favorite TV Show
Easy.  Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Second Favorites, Liberty's Kids, Wild Kratts, Phineas and Ferb, Shake It Up, etc.

Day 4: Favorite Book
Ahaha, like I could EVER answer that.
Right now, my favorite book is Kingdom Keepers 4.  But I also love Johnny Tremain, The other Kingdom Keepers books, a bunch of Star Wars books, IronHeart and IronSpear, The Septimus Heap books, the Mysterious Benedict Society and MANY MANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!  :P

Day 5: Favorite Quote
Seriously?  I can't answer this either!!!!  I have too many favorite quotes.  XD  Right now though, my favorite of the day is: "Heaven is going to be one loud place when the Lakehousers meet." Quote from Amaranthine.  Gotta love Amaranthine.  ;)  LOL!

Alright, Dance Dress Rehearsal.  That's on Sunday and will be roughly 4 hours long.  I'm in only two classes officially, but I have to remember 9 dances.  My lyrical and tap, and then the daddy-daughter dance.  Then I have to remember the two little girl dances that I help in, and four dances for the Finale.  ;)
So it'll be a lot of work.  My cousin Chibi will be in the dressing rooms the whole time, probably on her ipod or DS because she has nothing until Act Two.  I however will be in and out a LOT.  I've got Dancing Dads, then Achy Brakey Heart, (little girls jazz, which has five classes combined and I help all five get in the right rows), then I have a while to rest, and then it's Tap, and I have three dances before I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, (little girl ballet, which I dance on the side of the stage for), before the little girls ballet, I have to quick-change into my Lyrical costume so I can run and help them.  Then I've got to run back around the stage to get in line for my lyrical and pray I remember it.  XDDDD  A lot of running around huh?  Prayers would be appreciated.  I need help remembering everything.  :P

Anyways, I'll be gone for a while, so if I'm M.I.A. on Blogger for the next two days, you'll know why.  ;)

WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in LOVE with Wicked the Musical.  :)  This post is dedicated to Qui, because she helped me greatly in getting into Wicked, and understanding it.  ;)

My friend Maryanna went to see Wicked in one of the performing arts centers a while ago, and after hearing how much my Lakehouse friends loved it, I wanted to go too, but by the time I found out it was coming it was too late.  :P  But Maryanna went and had a great time, and she put the soundtrack of the Wicked music on my iPod, because she said I'd LOVE it.  I did LOOOVE it!!!!!!!  :D 
I'm quite jealous of Maryanna because she got to meet the guy who played Fieryo.  :P  Grrrr Maryanna.  xD

Anyways, so about a week ago I listened to the soundtrack for the first official time before bed, and was surprised at how much I liked it.  I fell asleep listening to it, and woke up singing Defying Gravity.  :P  So begins my newest obsession.  XDD

The next morning, I emailed Qui and asked her to explain to me the plot of the musical, because I was very curious.  I already tried looking it up on Wikipedia, but that only made me all the more confused.  :P
So Qui very kindly explained the plot in simple terms, so I could understand it.  :)  Now all the songs make sense!!  :D  I forwarded that email to my cousin Chibi*Chick, and she bought the album of Wicked songs on iTunes, and now she LOVES Wicked just as much as I do!!!!!! 

We've decided that I am Glinda and she is Elphaba.  :P  We are going to sing a duet for Defying Gravity and What is this Feeling.  It's awesome.  And fun!!!!  We're going to put on a show for when our family visits this summer.  It'll be really fun!!!!

Star Wars Party!!!/I'm M.I.A.

I'll be M.I.A. (missing in action for those of you who don't know) for the next few days because my dear mother and I had a fight and I have lost all wi-fi privileges.   Fortunately, I've redeemed myself enough that I can have her computer to check up on everything I need to.  That includes Fanfic.net, Lakehouse, Deviantart, Gmail and Blogger.  :)  SOOOO, I won't be on as much as I'd like to.  And, my family is going to the state homeschool convention next weekend, but we're leaving that Wednesday, so I'll be gone even more.  :P  BUT, I'm going to bring my laptop and HOPEFULLY blog from the hotel.  :)

{1} Which Star Wars character do you think you're most like?

Ooh.  I really don't know.  My mother would say Luke because I'm whiny.  XDD  I do NOT think Luke is whiny!!!  :P  Hmm....let me think.....probably most like Ahsoka.  Honestly, Ahsoka is spunky, smart, funny and a leader, but she is also a padawan, and she's still a learner.  She has my stubborn-ness, my sometimes witty attitude, my eager-to-please attitude but she learns her place as a student.  I'm working on that.....

{2} Supposing you could really, truly visit the Star Wars universe over summer vacation - where would you to go?

Ah.  ;)  Naboo.  I <3 Naboo.  Either Naboo or Alderaan, but pre-Death Star.  XDD  Both of those places are beautiful and exotic at the same time.  Definitely one of those two.  ;)

{3} Lightsaber or blaster? 

Both!!!!  Can't I  have both?  Like Mara Jade.  She has both.  :)  I want a lightsaber because every Jedi needs one, but knowing me I'd probably get hurt with it.....so a blaster might be good for backup.  ;)

{5} What is one of your favorite memories associated with Star Wars?

Celebration V.  I had the best day of my whole life while there.  Seriously.  :)  I was so ecstatic the whole time.  ;)  Out of that, I think one of my favorite memories was while at CV meeting Ashley Eckstien, and getting to sit  in the Falcon.  XD  I did!!!  It was so fun!!!  LOL!

{6} Do you remember the first time you saw a SW movie?

Yes, yes I do.  We bought them from a thrift store and watched all three of the OT in the same day.  I was hooked after Han and Leia kissed in the Falcon in ESB.  :)

{7} Have you ever used the Force? 

I use the Force all the time!!!!  :)  Bathrooms, Wal-Mart, Target, any place with automatic things.....sometimes I even turn lights on with the Force!!!!

{8} Do you have a favorite episode?

Empire Strikes Back!!!!!!!  It's the best!!!!!!!  Closely followed by Return of the Jedi.  :)

{9} Dress-up time! Which characters wardrobe do you like the best?

Padme Amidala has the best clothes.  I did an article on it for the Lakehouse Newsletter.  She's got a TON of beautiful outfits.  So I'd say her.  :)

{10} If you ask any of the cast members from Star Wars *ONE* question, who would you ask and what would you ask them?

First of all, I'd probably be too starstruck and over excited to even speak coherently, but I'd wan to probably meet Matt Lanter (Anakin from TCW) or James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan from TCW) and ask them what their favorite thing about their character was.  I'm going to meet Ashley Eckstien (Ahsoka from TCW) in a week for the third time!!!!  EEP!!!  :D

That was so much fun!!!!!!  :D

For me it's either Across the Stars or Han Solo and the Princess.  But I also love the Main Theme, Throne Room Theme, and Leia's Theme.  And Binary Sunset, Jedi Knights/Learn About the Force, and Luke and Leia's theme.  XD  I can't pick.  :P  OOH!!  And the Imperial March!  Okay, I'm done now.

Day 24: Favorite Force Power

Telekinesis.  I NEED THAT!!!   I can use it to open doors and turn on sinks and get paper towels and sometimes turn on lights, but if I never had to get up!  Gosh, that would be great!  XD

Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  Preferably Season 3!!!!  I loved the Mortis Trilogy best. 

Day 26: Most Heartbreaking Moment

When Anakin went to the Dark Side and killed the younglings.....*sniff*  And when Padme died.  *SNIFF* 

Day 27: Most Heroic Moment

When Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker saved his son from Palpatine.  Very heroic.  :)

Day 28: Least Favorite Moment

When Anakin went to the Dark Side.  When Anakin and Obi-Wan battled on Mustafar.  Those were the worst.  :(

Day 29: How would you introduce a newcomer to Star Wars

Gently.  I have what most would call an obsession, and I'd probably scare people off with my long list of useless facts that I only care to know.  But, thanks the the magic of a poster, I got my best friend into it!!  And I also semi-got my cousin into it through The Lakehouse.  :)

Day 30: What you would like to see regarding the future of Star Wars

I'd like to see The Clone Wars finish with a movie.  Personally I think that would be amazing. I'd also love to see some visual or at least audio of the EU.  I want/need more Mara Jade!!!!!!  :) LOL!
