So...um....well....

It's been a while, hasn't it?  Well, school and other things have come in the way of 2Thine again....sadly.  I have a bit of time to catch all of you, my lovely friends, up with what's been going on with me.
1.  School has been crazy.  We're kinda cramming in a way, because May is coming and we have a LOT going on in May. :P
2.  I JUST auditioned in my orchestra.  I feel pretty confident, but also kinda nervous as to if I'll get chosen to move up or not.  I'm hoping that the odds will be in my favor.  (this leads me into the next point...)
3.  I am officially a fan of The Hunger Games.  I'll discuss this more after my list.  I like lists.
4.  Pinterest occupies a lot of my time.  My username on there is @FallonSkywalker (same as Twitter) if you care to follow me.  I am enjoying it immensely.
5.  The Avengers is in TEN DAYS PEOPLE.  TEN.

Okay, now I shall write my thoughts on The Hunger Games, from MY WORLDVIEW.  So haters and other people who do not like my worldview, chill.  My thoughts, my words, my opinion.  Just getting that out there. XD

First off, to quiet those who might call me a "follower" or a "sheep" or whatever, due to the popularity of the book series, which partly is due to the fact that the movie had just recently come out (I really want to see it now XD), I have been meaning to read these books for some time.  My lovely cousin Embie read them about two years ago, and recommended them to me back then, with the warning that they were somewhat disturbing and very violent.  At that time, my exposure to sci-fi and more horror-ish things in general was very non-existent, and I had no desire to read something scary.  And thinking about it, I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate it.  But after Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and several super-hero movies, I am quite immune to violence and such things, and also very good at getting attached to characters whose fates are doomed. XD
Thus, with the popularity of these books that I hadn't even thought about for two years, I was very intrigued to know WHY the rest of the world liked them so much.  I wanted to know what the deal was about "Team Peeta" and "Team Gale" and why "I VOLUNTEER" is such a popular meme.
I have had multiple people recommend the books to me, friends from the internet, "real life", and random acquaintances.  Finally I took the plunge about a week ago, breaking open The Hunger Games on Wednesday night of last week.

Two words.  Four Thirty.
That is how late I stayed up reading that gosh-darn book.  I read the first page with curiosity and speculation, and after that, I could NOT put it down.  There were ZERO stopping points in the whole thing. I read and read until I couldn't keep my eyes open.  I was 3/4 of the way finished with the book when 4:30am rolled around.  I had to wake up at 7am, do Presidential fitness at P.E. the next day, and then teach dance and do dance for 5 hours that afternoon.  To say the least, I got home and literally crashed and burned. XD

I was able to pick it up again on Saturday and I finished the book in one sitting.  I sobbed through the entire ending, because I was devastated that it wasn't even a spark of happiness.  I was miserable all night (and then had to deal with drama on The Lakehouse) so my emotions were in torment all night long. XD  It didn't help that on the same night I chose to watch trailers for the movie (I sobbed like an idiot) and then reblog every THG item in sight on Tumblr.  And look at merchandise, and listen to the soundtrack for the movie (BEYOND BEAUTIFUL.  EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A FAN, GO LISTEN NOW).

To end that pathetic story, here are my overall thoughts of the book.

Overall Rating:  9.5/10 stars.  I take off a half-point for it being too gory in one scene for me to read (I skimmed part of the Tracker Jacker scene XD)

Rating from a Christian perspective:  7ish/10 stars.  Depending on how Christian you are judging this by, the book was gory, violent, and scary, and the worldviews in the book were not exactly ideal for all.  I personally was not too bothered by it, because it is in fact, a story.

Summary of the book (without spoiling anything):  The continent once known as North America is now simply Panem, broken up into 12 (once 13) districts.  Each district does a job, mining, agriculture, factories, technology, etc.  The immensely oppressive and controlling government, known as The Capitol, proves their power over their citizens once a year with an event entitled "The Hunger Games".  The Hunger Games involves two children between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district (one boy and one girl), to be entered into an arena where they all fight to the death.  The last person alive is crowned victor and is famous among all of Panem.  Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are entered in the games, and into a new world they never thought they'd get to know, The Capitol.  Peeta, who has had a crush on Katniss since childhood, is suddenly forced to kill her.....or is he?  Peeta, (being the incredibly sweet and perfect person that he is), makes his plight of the Games to be to save Katniss, and help her win.  The two team up when the game suddenly changes, and through unlikely circumstances, they are forced to be in love.  But it's all just an act.....right?  Find out what happens.  ;)

Goriness level:  10 XD  It was pretty bad....kids killing kids.....lots of injuries.....fire......death (a lot of it), warfare, blood, bugs, hallucination, etc, etc, etc.

Scare Factor:  8 or 9.  I made the mistake of reading these at bedtime/nighttime and ended up having a near-heart attack in my sleep and falling out of bed at 5am. XD

Sadness level:  For me?  1000.  For others?  It depends.  Some can read it without being sad, or you have me who sat in a puddle of her own tears sniveling for hours because of the ending to this book. xD

From a literature standpoint:  This book was fantastically written.  It was written in First Person POV, which was different but also really kinda cool, and very descriptive.  It's vivid and fast, and impossible to put down.  The dystophian world that Suzanne Collins created is just incredible.  I understand so many internet jokes now.  xD

Movie?  Yes, I really want to see it.  I've heard very good things about it.  The only thing that tips me off of the movie is that some people read the books AFTER seeing the movie.  I want to read the books and be depressed over the characters so i can go to the movies and sob watching my emotions play out on the big screen.  If you know what I mean.  XD

My recommendation?  If you haven't tried it, or are being defiant like I was, just cave and read it.  It's so good guys.....I loved it.  Very well written and such a great storyline too.  Enjoy, and May the Odds Ever be in your Favor. ;)

Well, to round up this post, I am almost done with the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire, with only three chapters to go.  I am literally dying to find out what happens.  This book might be as good as (if not better than) the first.  :)

Of X-Wings, Christmas Movies and Fangirl Moments...

Oh my Force, where has the week gone??  I've been doing everything from school, to writing for NaNo, to watching Christmas Movies to begin my training as an X-Wing pilot.  :)

Oh!  You're confused by that last part of that sentence, aren't you?  Well.....allow me to explain.  But first....

My NaNoWriMo novel is going interesting.

I'm excited about it, I've got a bajillion ideas going, but getting them onto paper (err...Word Document....) is SO HARD.  I am determined to get to 10k by tonight. I've got a ton of candy, a mini DVD player, and a clean bedroom.  ;)

Next part....allow me to fangirl over my new favorite movie......It's A Wonderful Life.  I've watched this movie EVERY YEAR ever since I was born, essentially, but until now, I've never really paid attention to it!  ;)  Now though, I see how ADORABLE it is!!!  How romantic, how family oriented, and just over all sweet and wholesome!  ;)

Okay.  Enough fangirling about the best Christmas movie in existence.  ;)  My dog is named Bailey, after George Bailey.  ;)  Hehe!!!  :D  I seriously love the name ZuZu now.  ;)  "Every time a bell rings, and angel gets his wings. :D"  xD

Okie Dokie.  ;)  Time for the X-Wing part of this post.  ;) My mother is incredibly awesome.  Seriously.  She ROCKS!!!  If we do school everyday like we did today, I would be the happiest girl on earth.  ;)

Usually, the prospect of math makes me like this:

But today....thanks to my mother......

You see.....I was working on graphing.  I have serious troubles with graphing....including somehow mixing up my coordinates and getting them from up and down like they belong to on the side, for some unknown reason.  My mom has been trying (in vain) to get me to understand math.  She would sit with me, read to me, do the problems with me, watch me do the problems, and even walk me step by step through the thing.  But NOTHING worked.  Somehow we kept ending up like that cat in the picture above, and then the little defeated face guy below.  xDD

But today...that all changed.  :)  I had a /partially/ open mind to begin with, and then my mom made my world light up with epicness.  ;)
She handed me my Star Wars atlas and looked at me (sitting in my dad's recliner in our school/family room) and said:
"Now, if you're on a mission for the New Republic, and you have to fly from Coruscant to Corellia on a supply run, what coordinate would you need to plot to make it there, soldier?"
My face was the equivalent of this:

She then treated me like a recruit for the famous Rogue Squadron, teaching me and helping me plot points on the galactic chart of the universe, with all our favorite planets.  ;)  I started crying more than once at how COOL it all was!!!!

My mom is SERIOUSLY Princess Leia.  She talked JUST LIKE I imagine New Republic Leia to be, all stoic, brave, inspiring and epic at the same time. ;)  She made me think, while teaching me math, and playing in 'my universe'.  ;)  I'll ace that test and become a pilot in no time!!!

That soooo made my day.  xD  I had a blast.  ;)  I watched It's A Wonderful Life for the 2nd time tonight, and now I'm listening to music, preparing to write about 5,000 words on my story.  (yeah right, try 2,000 tops before I pass out, I'm EXHAUSTED). xD  But hopefully I'll hit 15k by Wednesday, if everything goes according to my just-made-up schedule.....

November: A Month of Literary Abandon

NaNoWriMo.

Only 2 days, 8 hours, and 36 minutes until the start of National Novel Writing Month.

My email to my family and friends has been sent.

My profile has been set up click here.

My plots are outlined.

My characters have sketches.

My binder is ready to go portable.

My laptop will be ready by this afternoon.

And I am totally ready for NaNo.

I am a WriMo.  And I am going to write a novel in 30 days.

I have a to-do list.  It MUST be finished today.  The first half is school-related, but the other half is NaNo realted.  Here is that half.

NaNo Half Of To-Do List:

1. eat
2. wrap up fanfics to get ready for nano
3. prep binder (again)
4. buy a memory stick (again)
5. fix printer
6. go over outlines and add to them
7. pick a tense to write in (no i haven't done this yet!) 
8. eat

What do you think?  I've got procrastination down really well on that list.  XDDD  My first thing is to finish up school, so I'm going to do that now.  ;)

Tell us about your secondary characters, how do they affect the story?  The secondary characters will help the main characters develop, as well as cause conflicts and create progression throughout the story.  ;)

Do you plan to stay up until Midnight on the 31st?  Heck Yes.  XD  I will start writing at 12:01, and probably won't crash and burn until about 3, after all the candy I'll be eating.  XD

How many years have you done NaNo?  One.  :)  This will be my second year! 

What came first, characters or plot idea?  Actually, this is rare for me, the plot came first.  I came up with it in the shower and wrote it down for future reference.  Little did I know that I'd actually turn it into my NaNo Novel!  :D

How much prep do you do before November?  As much as I can, this year, last year I had NOTHING.  Barely a plot.  XD  This year I've got lots of stuff lined up and ready to go for writing.  :D

Now be honest, how do you really feel about NaNo?  I love it.  I get so excited for it.  :)  I've been anticipating November for the LONGEST TIME.  ;)

Okay y'all, here's a new post for ya!!!!  This is actually written by my mom, as her 'alter ego' Princess Leia.  ;)  No joke, she SERIOUSLY THINKS that she is Princess Leia.  Er...she KNOWS she's Princess Leia.  She's short, loud and bossy...what more proof do you need?  (Just kidding Momma, I love you. ;) )  So enjoy, and share your thoughts!!!

Here are some thoughts as to my purpose and guiding principles for home-educating my children.  As told from my alter ego – Princess Leia Organa Solo.

 

 

You know I am a deep thinker, and for some reason I have the ability to see behind the curtain as to what is truly happening in our world once all the layers have been peeled away.  It is the fundamental battle of good verses evil.  It is the battle for the control of our very souls.  Our Creator is good and all good comes from the Creator.  Evil will continue to try to control all that is good, using all means necessary. Manipulation, control, greed, jealously, and contempt are tools of evil.  Knowing we are not perfect but are loved because our Creator is love is the fundamental essence of our lives.  We are to live in and manifest love because he first loved us.  That is the bottom line key to the universe. 

 

Now the reality is that living in this universe there is evil always trying to take us captive, destroy our lives, worlds, and our very existence.  What do we do?  What can we do?  How do you fight an enemy that seems to have so many willing supporters (I like to call them useful idiots), lies that seem to be truth, a media that does not question, and political leadership that can’t see past their pettiness and a shadow government that is controlling the outcomes from behind the curtains. 

 

I can’t believe, after fighting for freedom against tyranny once, we are right back where we were all those years ago.  How quickly people forget. The New Republic (our modern lifestyles and modern education system) has quite frankly made individuals complacent and ignorant.  Personal political powers have caused corruption and distrust of the government.   We have forgotten our original argument for the Rebel Alliance (freedom from tyranny) and the Republic (representative democracy).  We must get back to our core values of Liberty and Freedom and Individualism and Equal Justice.  We must learn our history and we must learn to connect the dots.

 

 

I personally believe my talents and time are wasted in an “administrative role” (anything other than homeschooling).  Getting bogged down in bureaucracy and status quo makes one’s senses dull and blind. As a senator, I was able to represent my homeworld with a clear set of values, traditions, liberty and equal justice. As Chief of State I was simply an over-glorified babysitter.  A role I cannot and will not do anymore.  I will go back to focusing on fighting for the Creator’s truth, freedom and justice. Starting with my home and the future, my children.  They will know that we are in a battle for our souls. They need to be nurtured, protected and armed with truth.  However, most importantly they need to know how to think and how to make connections.  They need to learn how to see with their ears and hear with their eyes.   They must know history in order to see the future.  They must be connected with their soul and our Creator.  They must see beyond their personal desires to that of our Creator.

 

 

We need take our education back to the classical times, where thoughts are debated and discussed and individuals can make their own connections based on truth and not on political agendas. They must learn the basics of arithmetic, writing and reading in order to put the Creator’s plan into practical action in their lives.  Educating at home seems meaningless or impractical or even crazy on the surface, but it is mandatory for the survival of our future, at least for our family.

 

And let me just make this comment about the Jedi of the Old Republic.  While I respect them, I do not agree with all of their teachings, such as no attachments, and that anger leads to the darkside, etc.  Just because you lose your temper or get frustrated every once in awhile, it does not mean you are going to become a Sith lord. If that were the case, I would have force choked just about everybody I know.  Sith are pure evil, when the soul is lost and the evil rots your core.  

 

Thankfully, my brother Luke and his wife have corrected some of those 'rules'. He and I believe we need to acknowledge our emotions. Knowing where the roots of our feelings come from and not try to suppress them, however learn from them to become better people. I also believe that personal attachments, especially with those we love make us stronger, not weaker.  We must know love binds us together and is what wins over evil.  We must strengthen them, know that we are better when we have people we love and who love us in our lives. 

 

I realize that this is an extremely long thought, but one that has been on my heart.  If I can reach out to my children and relate to them and teach them through a galaxy far, far away then I will.  I will meet my children where they are and find a way to connect with their souls.  It is my duty, responsibility and life calling.  So my dear children, math is important and we need to learn all that we can with the time we are given.  There is a greater purpose than just “doing school”.  We are learning to “live life with purpose”, His purpose.

Day 4!!!!

Sorry y'all, no pictures today.  :P  All I did was go to speakers and walk the vendor hall.

Today was still great though!!!!!  My parents and I went to a bunch of speakers while my sissy was at the kids program.  We had fun!!!  And after a bunch of speakers, my mom and dad and I all cried quite a bit.  We've had a breakthrough after going to the last speaker of our trip.  He talked about raising teenagers with the wisdom of Solomon (Bible Solomon) and OH MY LORD WE NEEDED THIS TALK!!!!!!  I felt like crying one minute, and running up and hugging the guy the next.  He said everything I was feeling and wanting to tell my parents without me saying a word.  I feel.....(as stupid as this sounds) free.  I feel light and happy.  My mom and dad said they are going to start treating me with the same respect they want to receive, and treat me not as an equal exactly, but more like an adult.  I'm so happy.  About two minutes ago, my sister said something and I told her to 'shut up' and my mom was about to correct/yell at me to be nice but instead she calmly said, "Can't you say that nicer?  She didn't mean it that way."  I was so excited.  :) 

Anyway, enough ranting about me.

How are you all doing?  Is everyone out of school/almost out of school?  I feel awful for not being involved in the blogosphere lately.  I've been pretty busy though.  ;)

So right now I'm watching the end of National Treasure again until Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark comes on.  ;)  I <3 Indy!!!!  I'm going to go on the Indiana Jones attraction in Disney tomorrow.  I might even cave and buy a hat.  XD

Tomorrow is STAR WARS WEEKENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot wait!!!!!  We're leaving early, and I'll come back to blog and talk to my friends about it.  I am SO psyched.  We'll meet Ashely Eckstien, and I might even get to meet JediGirl1990 from Lakehouse and Her Universe.  JediGirl1990 is one of the only 'older girls' from HU who was nice to us 'younger girls' and joined us on Lakehouse.  Along with Sarahthegeek.  :)

Also, I'm quite excited because I have a new friend on TLF!!!  Cad Bane's Chick lives near me, homeschools and loves Star Wars just like I do!!!!!  :D  In fact, I met her mom at the homeschool convention the other day when she liked my Star Wars bag.  We talked for a while and then I mentioned The Lakehouse and gave her mom the web address.  The next night, Cad Bane's Chick joined and sent me a PM telling me that her mother met me at the homeschool convention and how excited she was to join our forum!  :D  I'm so happy!!!  I love PMing with her!  :)

Okay, I'll stop now.  Indiana Jones is almost on.  XD  I plan on writing, reading fanfics and making signature banners for my Lakehouse sisters before I eventually fall asleep and get ready for SWW in the morning!!!!!  Sorry for the 'brief' (haha, I don't think 'brief' or 'short' is in my vocabulary) and I'll be doing a MEGA post tomorrow with tons of pictures and Star Wars fandomness!!!!!!!!  :D

Anakin on Vacation Day 2 and Day 3 (without pictures...well, some pictures)

Well, Here's Thursday's Anakin on Vacation picture post!!!!  :D  I'll give you a bunch of pics of Anakin in Downtown Disney, and I'll give you a few of me!  Yay!!!  :DDD  I didn't take /any/ pictures today because all I did was go to speakers and walk the vendor hall.
Anyway, onto Anakin!!!!!
First, Thursday morning we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  ;)  Anakin came with , of course.

That peg game is FAMOUS for Cracker Barrel!!!!  LOL!  Anakin's trying to win.

Anakin outside of World of Disney.  This has GOT to be one of my favorite shots of him!!!!!  He looks great!  LOL!

In the window of WOD (world of Disney) store.  If Anakin's head was bigger he'd look like he was wearing mouse ears.  XD

Star Wars is quite eminent in Disney World....especially this time of the year.  This is Ani in front of the "Build Your Own Lightsaber" station in Once Upon A Toy store.  BEST. STORE. EVER.  Even when you're a teenager.  xD  I love these shots too!!  :D

I went into an art gallery and got quite excited when I saw all the Star Wars paintings.  ;)  I took Anakin's picture with this Vader one.  My favorite one is this one:

Okay, I know the glare is kinda bad on this one, but I love the picture itself.  If you can't see it, it's of Vader's mask and Luke (during the Bespin scene) is in the reflection of his mask.  I love it.  If you look at Luke's reflection you can really see how upset and troubled that moment was.  I couldn't find out who painted it, so credit goes to whoever made this and the picture above.  ;)

I like both of these too!  First one is of Anakin in front of the Rainforest Cafe restaurant.  :)  I love that place. 
Second one is in front of a banner on a post.  i like what it says though.  "Let the memories begin!"

Again in front of the "Build a Lightsaber" station.  I actually BUILT another lightsaber!!!!!!!!!  :D  I made a blue one last year, and this year, I made a purple one!!!!!  :D  So now I have both of Mara Jade's lightsabers.  Here are some pics of my epic new lightsaber.  My sister made one too.  :)

Me and my little sister playing with our new lightsabers.  Notice the hideous boot on my foot.  That is to keep my toes immobilized because of my injured tendons/joint.  I HATE that boot.  It's itchy, sweaty, tight and bruises my shin.  But my toes are healing!!!  :D  And it was so funny because when in one of the Disney stores (World of Disney, to be exact) a cast member (worker) there saw my foot and gave me a free pin.  ;D  She said it was from Mickey and her, hoping my foot heals soon.  ;)  I felt very special. 
It's hard to run, lightsaber battle, or climb/descend stairs in that boot.  I can't bend my ankle.  xD  Right now it's off, thank goodness.  :P

Now, Anakin, my mom, dad, sister and I went to T-Rex for lunch.  It's just like Rainforest Cafe, it's got animals and creative scenes to eat in.  We ate in the Ice Cave and as you can see behind Anakin, there's a fossilized (not real, but real looking) and as you'll see below in the next couple pictures, they have dinosaurs that look real too.  ;)  It's a really fun place to eat, and after we ate we went to the gift shop and then to the 'dig site' where my sister and I had fun playing in the rock sand stuff, although it wasn't the brightest move I ever made with my sweaty foot in that boot.  I had to take it off and wipe all the little dirt/sand out.  :P

That was Thursday.  :)  Now onto Friday.  Today.

Today was a really cool day too! 

OH WAIT!!!!!!!!  NEVER MIND!!!!!!!!!!!  I ALMOST FORGOT!  Luckily i looked down.  xD  You'll get why in a second.  :P

Also on Thursday the Homeschool Convention opened.  We got to go to the vendor hall for two hours!!  My parents surprised me by taking me to the Generations of Virtue booth and letting me pick out a purity ring.  It's my Middle School Graduation gift and my Welcome To High School gift.  I LOVE it!!!!!  I just looked down and remembered I NEED to post on it!  :D  It has three little hearts with jewels in them.  The first pink heart represents me, the middle purple heart represents Jesus, and the other little pink heart represents the boy Jesus chose for me.  ;)  I love my ring!!!  I never ever will take it off!  (until I get an engagement ring that is. xD)

Okay.  Now that I got that out of the way, I'll start to wrap up this post. I have to tell you though, today was a great day.  I went to several speakers, and they were all excellent.  ;)

Chad Hymas  This guy made me cry.  He's very down-to-earth and such a great guy.  I'm happy for him.  He talked about choices and how everything in life is about the choices you make.  And the consequences. 

Lt. General William "Jerry" Boykin  He is amazing.  I really cried hearing him speak.  He's a 36 year American Army veteran.  He's been through so much, and he's very strong in his faith.  He's literally heard the voice of God twice.  And he's seem more miracles than I've ever imagined possible.  :')  Excellent speaker, amazing person.  He talked about never giving up and how God is present in even the most hellish situations.  (sorry for the wordage there, but you've got to understand what this guy has been through.  He LITERALLY has been through hell.  I can't even comprehend it.)

Sherri Seligson  She's so cool!!!!!  I took tons of notes in her seminar (which I went to all by myself!)  She is a former Disney cast member at the Living Seas (now The Seas with Nemo and Friends) in Disney's Epcot.  She's a homeschool mom and she helps write the Apologia curriculum.  She's a marine biologist.  And a Creationist.  ;)  She talked about looking for hits of God and Creation in an Evolutionist world.  It's so cool how everything is connected.  :) 

Nicholeen Peck  This lady is so nice!!!!!  :D  She's really cool too!  She teaches Self Governance and how to overcome parenting/family challenges.  We're going to buy her program.  I think if our family does this, we would all be a lot happier, fight less, lose less wi-fi, get more school done, and be a stronger family.  I want to do this.   :)  I got to meet the lady and she's super nice in person too.  And she was a great speaker.  She taught four ways to conquer self government. 

After doing the speakers, we went to the vendor hall again.  We bought a bunch of books, a German program, a sewing program and a bunch of other things.  ;)

Then we picked up my sister from the Kids program and my sister, dad and I went back to the hotel room to relax while my mom went to another speaker. 

Eventually, we went to dinner together.  The FPEA (homeschool organization) has been playing movies continuously all day in the main atrium.  We sat and ate dinner while watching How To Train Your Dragon with a ton of other homeschool families.  It was really fun!!!!  When Hiccup and Astrid kissed at the end, everyone in the audience went, "Oooohhhhh!!!!!!"  including me.  I was laughing so hard.  XDD  I also read some fanfics while watching......a few good fanfics........xD

So today and yesterday was a great day.  Now I'm watching National Treasure 1, and I happened to bring National Treasure 2.....so I just may put that in.  ;)  I love Riley.  xD
